I wanted to ask what time and the day of the week you visited the Taj. I recently returned from India and my visit to the Taj was marred by the fact there were a couple of thousand people, perhaps even more. It was a nightmare. A photograph like yours would have been impossible because there were so many people all over the place.
If you can recall the information I am requesting that will be great so whenever I go the next time I can visit the Taj without thousands of visitors to the Taj.
Sorry for the late reply!!! Clearly I am not very good at timely moderation of the comments on here :)
I looked back at my notes -- we were there on the morning of Saturday, March 17, 2012. We took a train from Delhi at 6:12am to Agra, and the time stamp on this photo is 10:01am.
I remember the Taj being fairly crowded, but nothing like you describe -- and certainly we had no problems snapping this great photo. I am not a expert of Taj tourism, but I'm guessing the March heat was a factor in keeping the masses away.
Great photograph Jonathan.
